Co-authored by: Lactic Acid Peel. Many people believe that acne affects people with oily skin alone. Well, things are actually different!

Acne does not choose victims on such criteria; yet in certain cases, people with oily skin are more affected by this dermatological condition. Bacteria, hormonal changes, an unhealthy diet and a chaotic lifestyle represent the right premises for a dry acne skin outburst. Before starting any targeted treatment, it is important to identify the causes behind the acne problem. Yet, a double treatment is necessary most of the time: one for the skin dryness and another to eliminate acne.

Good moisturizing is the key to treating dry acne skin, because you thus protect the natural skin barrier against all sorts of factors. The lotions and creams you use ought to contain some very soothing agents like aloe vera for instance that is good both for acne and for skin dryness.

In case you do not have a single product to use for both problems, don't ignore the huge therapeutic protection of home remedies. Callendula for instance is a herb with good antibacterial and regenerative properties that will accelerate the healing of the acne lesions while also dealing with the excessive dryness.

Depending on the condition of the dry acne skin, the doctor may also prescribe the use of oral medication besides the topical remedies. Depending on the ointment, you could extend the topical use to larger skin portions besides the face for instance.

If there is acne spread to other body areas, clothing and hygiene rules are just as important as proper tissue hydration. Clothing could be a great relief or the source of even more pain if you don't choose it carefully; therefore, cotton should be preferred over any other synthetic fabric.

During summer people with dry acne skin face all sorts of challenges. A better air humidity works in favor of the skin dryness on the one hand, and on the other, the heat makes a favorable condition for acne to outburst. Try to remain consistent and persistent in the treatment of dry acne skin regardless of season. Use cleansers that are alcohol free and find products that clean and disinfect without drying the tissues. - 20762
