Take Blues Guitar Lessons Online

By Floyd A. Trentino

What You Will Learn - One of the foundations of music today comes from the blues. Rock adopted its style and feel from the blues along with almost every other form including pop! Many people starting out with music are looking for a good and easy blues guitar lesson.

Blues guitar is cool to learn when starting out because with some basic chords and scales the new guitar can start making music that sounds great in a very short time. Learning things like a basic scale, chords and some riffs will keep them interested in learning more.

When I first sit down with a new student I like to teach them the pentatonic scale on the guitar. Its easy because its a 5 note pattern. Students seem to remember this pattern easily plus this is the building block of things to come in additional guitar lessons.

The cool thing about teaching a student the pentatonic is that they can start soloing and improvising very quickly. The reason for this is because of the 5 notes it contains none of them are conflicting (bad notes) so this lets the new student noodle around much more.

Power chords are typically the next lesson for blues guitar. This works well because power chords are built from the root note and the 5th note above that. So its a 2 note chord and easy for the student learn and apply.

Power chords are fun and easy to play and the cool thing is that these are called movable chords. Movable chords can be moved all over the fretboard without changing the chord shape. So this makes teaching the 12 Bar Blues Progression very easy.

Learning how to play a 12 Bar Blues progression is easy after you got your power chords down. Its a simple progression that follows a certain order and can be played in every key. Its a very common progression and your students will know millions of songs built from it.

To boost my students interest I usually play a 12 Bar Blues and have them improvise a simple solo over it. Whats cool about this is that I get to take break LOL no but whats cool is the student finally gets the feeling composing their own music.

Sometimes a student will not have the gear to record with so what I normally do is just play the 12 Bar Blues for them while they solo and work on melodies and riffs.

You owe yourself the gift of music and if you are serious about learning the guitar you can do it right online. It has never been more affordable to learn a new instrument then today. Take 2 weeks and apply the lesson and your piers wont believe what they hear when you plug in. - 20762
